[Also in Division A5] A double lumen type of inflatable catheter 10 is produced by dipping a large rod provided with a longitudinally disposed half-round groove in latex until a sufficient thickness of latex is built up in the groove to form the inner wall of the smaller lumen 16, a wire mandrel which has also been dipped in latex being then located in the groove. The wire, which is bent at one end to form the inflation side arm 25, and the rod are then dipped together. A hole 17 is formed in the inflation lumen and filled with bentonite and the assembly is dipped again with a bentonite pattern over the hole to form the inflation balloon 13. The latex does not adhere to the bentonite which is washed away. An inflatable indicator 14 may be provided by using a mandrel having an appropriately positioned enlargement. |
