Heating and irrigation system for agricultural purposes - is combined with river level control for hydro-electric purposes

A water tank is built in the bank of a river upstream of a hydro electric power station. The tank is watertight and has an inlet opening at high level which serves as an overflow outlet from the river. This regulates the water level in the river upstream of the power station. The water flows down the sides of the tank and up through a central container with an open or perforated base. It is heated electrically either at the bottom of the tank or in the container. Water is drawn from the tank and delivered to pipes buried under a field. The pipes contain outlet relief valves which discharge the water above a certain pressure to irrigate the field.
