A HV switching system is insulated by gas at high pressure. Typically the insulating gas may be sulphur hexafluoride. A pressure equalising vessel is connected to the system inside. It has at least one elastic wall to which the outer pressure is applied together with an additional pressure independent from the outer pressure, as in 2601526. Sheet metal jackets of switchgear containers are provided with stiffening corrugations (11, 12) and they may be fitted with welded-on light sectional elements (13).
