1398405 Animal feed composition SMITH KLINE & FRENCH LABORATORIES Ltd 24 May 1973 [30 May 1972] 25268/72 Heading A2B A ruminant feed composition contains 5- 80% by wt. of finely divided roughage and 0.01-0.2% by wt. of a non-ionic surface active agent, the roughage having a modulus of fineness of 2.0-4.0 and a modulus of uniformity of 0:4:6-4:6:0. The roughage is preferably prepared by passing barley straw through a hammer mill having an outlet screen of size #-¢". The surface active agent is preferably a polyoxyalkylene polyol block copolymer based on a hydrophobic polyoxypropylene polymer of molecular wt. 900-3150 on to which has been polymerised ethylene oxide to obtain hydrophilic polyethylene oxide in an amount of 20-90% of the final M.W. of the product. The surface active agent may also be a silicone, polyglyceryl oleate and polyoxyethyl polyoxypropyl condensates based on ethylene diamine. The surface agent may be mixed with vermiculite prior to blending with the roughage. |
