1485661 Reverse gear control DAIKIN SEISAKUSHO KK (DAIKIN MFG CO Ltd) 12 March 1975 [19 March 1974] 10210/75 Heading F2D A single lever fluid-pressure control, for selecting forward and reverse clutches 29, 30 in a motor vehicle or vessel, which provides also graduated pressure control for starting and inching, comprises a forward-reverse select valve 26 and a connected inching valve 21, regulating the pressure supply to the valve 26 in response to loading 28 by the direction control of the valve 26, the valves being arranged in a circuit which provides for economical lubrication supply services 19 for the bearings and torque converters. A pressure-maintaining valve 17, between an engine-driven pressure source 16 and the direction-control and inching valves 26, 21, remains closed to the latter until a predetermined minimum pressure is established in a lubricating feed line 3, which latter includes a one-way restricted control valve 18, which cuts off this supply 3 to the lubrication services 19 when outlet pressure from the control valve 18 is exceeded by an alternative lubrication supply thereafter provided by a drain valve 23, which, in response to increase in pressure 5, 9 regulated to the direction select valve 26 by the inching valve 21, is shifted right by a piston 22, to cut off a drain connection 141 from an exhaust line 10 from the inching valve 21 and to substitute therefor a connection to a line 11, which then feeds the lubrication services 19 from the exhaust of the inching valve 21, the control valve 18 being then closed thereby economizing in the lubrication supply. A relief valve 24 limits lubrication pressure. The direction-select valve 26 shown is longitudinally moving and its control actuates a cam 28, having-risers f, r, on each side of neutral, to effect graduated increase in compression of a spring 32 controlling regulation by the inching valve 21, of the pressure in the supply lines 5, 9 to the inching and direction select valves 21, 26. The direction select valve may be rotary and act through a cylindrical cam on the load spring 32 of the inching valve 21.
