1485671 Filters CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO 29 Oct 1975 [26 March 1975] 44627/75 Heading B1D A filter apparatus comprises a housing 11 in which is removably mounted a filter unit which comprises a screen 35, a filter element 39 a spring loaded bypass valve 26, bar magnets 42 and cover 21. The cover 21 is connected to support member 33 by bolt 34 and has an aperture 32 through which spool 27 of valve 26 may be removed. In use fluid to be filtered enters inlet 18 and flows past magnets 42 which remove any metal particles therefrom to chamber 41 from which it passes through screen 35, annular passage 40 and filter element 39 to outlet 20. If the pressure in chamber 41 exceeds a predetermined value, e.g. due to clogging of filter element 39, the valve 26 opens and fluid flows directly from passage 40 to outlet 20. The housing 11 may be mounted in a tank 10 which forms part of e.g. a lubricating circuit. |
