1485957 Separating oil from gas ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 4 Oct 1974 [5 Oct 1973] 43145/74 Heading BIT [Also in Division Fl] A compressor (e.g. refrigerent compressor) comprises at least one pair of diametrically opposed outward-flow oil coalescers 1 each having an axial inlet 6 which in use is in communication with a respective outlet 14 from chamber 9 for receiving gas-oil mixture therefrom. The streams of coalesced oil discharged from one coalescer is directed towards and meets the stream discharged from the opposite coalescer. The coalesced oil collects in the bottom 22 of housing 7. The longitudinal axes of the coalescers may be horizontal. Each oil separator 1 may comprise a cylindrical multi-layer wire fabric (e.g. knitted) element provided between end plates 3, 4. The compressor shown comprises rotor 10 carrying sliding vanes 12, in chamber 9, inlets 13 connected to a supply to the compressor, outlets 14 connected to pressure ducts 16 via flap valves 15, each duct 16 communicating with a respective inlet 6, and a bore 21 communicating with oil in the bottom of housing 7.
