1427776 Extracting proteins from dried organic material NOVITAS NUPROT SA 28 June 1973 [18 July 1972] 30888/73 Heading C3H A process for the extraction of proteins from dried organic material containing a proteinaceous component and at least another organic component involves treating dried organic material with either a solvent for the proteinaceous material, which solvent is chosen from propylene glycol, m-cresol and 2-methoxyethanol, and is a non-solvent for the other organic component(s) or a solvent for the other organic component(s), which solvent is chosen from glycerol and ethylene glycol, and is a non-solvent for the proteinaceous component, separating the resultant solution from the residue and removing the solvent from the proteinaceous component. The examples describe: (1) treating lactose-reduced whey powder with glycerol and recovering undenatured, water-soluble protein powder from the solid phase by washing it with ethanol/acetone and drying; (2) treating dried blood plasma from slaughter houses and (3) dried, microbiologically treated municipal waste material with propylene glycol and recovering the proteins from solution by precipitating them with ethanol at - 10‹ C., dissolving the precipitate in water and drying. |
