In order not to subject the fed starting materials to a continuous moistening, or to subject them only to a slight continuous moistening, which would make post-drying necessary with the extruded material, the extruder has two driven contra-rotating conical conveyor screws (3, 4), which mesh together and have a cone angle between 1 DEG and 5 DEG and are arranged in a smooth-walled heatable barrel (1).
