<p>1427780 Reaction cell BAXTER LABORATORIES Inc 17 July 1973 [11 Sept 1972] 33944/73 Heading G1B An apparatus for measuring a change in temperature of a reaction product from an equilibrium temperature of its constituents incident to an intermixing of at least two of the reacting constituents comprises an enthalpimeter 22 having an outer housing 24 of cylindrical construction, a titrant temperature equilibrium block 26, a core member 28 and a plate for closing one end thereof. The equilibrium block 26 is formed to provide a pair of cavities 34 and 36, coaxial with one another and the longitudinal axis of the block itself. The core member provides an axial bore 70 and a plurality of bores 72 disposed in quadrature thereabout, each bore being in communication with the chamber 34. The central bore accommodates a rod 74 which is supported by a sleeve 76. The rod 74 is adapted to rotate within the bore and a stirrer is mounted on the rod. The remaining bores 72 may accommodate, for example, a heater, a temperature-responsive member such as a thermistor or a pH probe or may serve as inlets for various test gases. Additional longitudinal bores 96 are in communication with helical grooves 58 forming a pair of titrant delivery paths. Individual tubes 98 are wound within the two groove paths and extend from titrant reservoirs 102 to cup 90. The apparatus may be used for evaluating serological and immunological reactions.</p> |
