1416913 Hydrocarbon conversion catalyst SIEMENS AG 16 Feb 1973 [3 March 1972] 7871/73 Heading B1E [Also in Division C5] A catalyst composition for hydrocarbon conversion comprises a support of gamma- and/or eta-alumina, kaolinate and titania and, as active component, a transition metal or compound. The composition may contain 5 to 90% wt gamma-alumina, 5 to 80% wt eta-alumina, 5 to 50% wt kaolinite, 0.5 to 10% wt titania (which may be added as a natural impurity in kaolinite) and 0.3 to 35% wt transition metal component. Specified transition metals are Cu, Zn, La, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, the iron group and the platinum group. A precursor for the composition is formed by mixing kaolinite, titania and bayerite and/or boehmite with acid to form a plastic mass and then adding the transition metal component. The precursor may be converted to the catalyst by calcination or exposure to hydrocarbon conversion conditions. The Examples describe compositions containing: (i) lanthanum oxide and cobalt oxide; and (ii) platinum. |
