<p>1446756 Hair dryers and moisturizers SCHICK Inc 8 Oct 1973 [24 Oct 1972] 46809/73 Heading A4V [Also in Division A5-6] A portable combination hair moisturizer and dryer 20 comprises a base 28 and a head 22 pivotally secured to opposite ends of a mounting assembly 24 so that the dryer may be stored in a nested configuration, air drawn in through annular openings 40 in base 28 by an impeller within a housing 26 being directed over a heater 53 in a U-section housing of assembly 24 to a perforated distribution plenum 34 incorporated in head 22, and a steam generator 83 carried within a second U-section housing of assembly 24 producing steam which is directed through a conduit 132 to plenum 34. The steam generator 83 comprises a boiler 108 fed with water from a reservoir 104 via a flexible conduit 106, the boiler and reservoir being carried on mounting plates 156, 166 respectively, attached to a moulded element 86 retained in a recess 92 in the back wall 78 of assembly 24 by tongue and groove jointing. Reservoir 104 may be replenished with water from a vial 98 carried within the moulded element 86 by means of a detent 100 and a press-fit insert 96. Boiler 108 extends from below the bottom to above the top of reservoir 104 whenever the dryer is in its operative position with the mounting assembly 24 generally vertical. The various modes of operation of the moisturizerdryer may be controlled by a switch 126 having position representative of OFF, COOL, WARM, HOT and MIST. Trays 42 are provided on base 28 to receive pins, curlers or the like.</p> |
