A roasting appts. is provided for burning a pulverized fluidised alum, which is then passed to a redn. appts. and a cooling appts. A vertical heat regenerator and a cyclone type heat regenerator are fitted on the same stand. The latter heat regenerator heats the pulverized alum and removes surplus moisture from it and is connected with an upper chamber of the vertical heat regenerator via a feed conduit, a hopper and a precipitating conduit. Appts. is used for producing alumina, potassium sulphate, H2SO4 and canadium cpds. by thermal treatment of alum.
