Composite boards have >=1 face and opt. internal layers of continuous sheet with the constituent fibre axes predominantly in the plane of the board and >=1 layers of blocks laminated with their constituent fibre axes predominantly normal to the plane of the board. Boards with constituent fibres aligned along >=2 major axes are termed 'duplex' structures. Used for boards based either on glass wool consolidated to densities of 20-100, pref. 30-75 kg/m3, or of mineral (rock) wool in the density range 40-200, pref. 60-150 kg/m3. The composite structure has greater compressive and delaminated resistance than mono- or multiple-layer boards with all layers having fibre orientation predominantly in the board plane.
|
