A regulated DC power supply uses an active filter for improved pre-filtering and fine control of current and voltage and is designed for minimal use of components and power dissipation. The supply contains a controlled rectifier circuit with a main direct current control circuit, an impedance (20, 21, 22) in series with the supplied load (24) a feedback amplifier (26, 27) and a pick-off (23) supplying the amplifier with the load voltage. The impedance contains a resistor (20) in series with an inductance (20). The amplifier also transfers the DC (IN) and the pick-off (23) transfers to the amplifier input a signal representing deviation from a direct voltage with the sign of the direct voltage at the load.
