The safety cot is contained in a rigid trough (1) which is pivoted about a relatively high transverse axis over the car seat. A flat support base (11) has uprights (8, 9) at each end to form the pivot supports. The trough is fitted with handgrips (2, 3) at each end, and a central hole in each handgrip froms the location for the pivot pins (4, 5). The other ends of the pivot pins are supported on the vehicle by safety straps (13). In a collision the cot swings to prevent the baby from being thrown out. The amount of pivot can be limited by stops, or the cot can swing through 360 deg. so that in the event of the vehicle turning over, the baby remains secure in the cot. |
