PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of irregularities in driving an image carrier by providing a piezoelectric transducer as a driving means driving the image carrier and permitting the vibration surface of the piezoelectric transducer to abut on the prescribed position of the image carrier. CONSTITUTION:When an electrical signal having a prescribed frequency is applied to piezoelectric elements 12a and 12b attached to an ultrasonic piezoelectric transducer 2 from a power source, a stretching vibration occurs in one direction of an elastic body 10; that is, the rotating direction of a drum 1, while a flex vibration occurs in the other direction of the elastic body 10; that is, the direction perpendicular to the face of the drum 1. An almost elliptical vibration is created on the vibration surface 11 and this elliptical vibration rotates the drum 1 to abut on the vibration surface 11 in a prescribed direction. Therefore, a gear reducer to drive the drum 1 is not needed. Thus, the backlash of a gear and driving irregularities caused by a tooth profile are evaded and the occurrence of irregularities in exposure is easily prevented. |
