1485285 Electro-photographic apparatus MITSUBISHI DENKI KK 24 Oct 1974 [24 Oct 1973 28 Dec 1973] 46073/74 Heading G2H An electro-photographic apparatus having a precharging device 20 for charging a multi-layer electrophotographic plate 12 on a rotatable drum to a given potential before irradiation comprises a light irradiating device, a light flushing device and a roller transfer device. The pre-charging device 20 comprises a charger 21 including a casing 22 housing two wire corona electrodes 23 and a netting electrode 24. An electric source 26 is connected to electrodes 23 and a source 30 biases the netting electrode 24. The plate 12 has a conductive base layer 13, a photo-conductive layer 14 and a transparent dielectric layer 15. Several materials and thicknesses are given for these layers. Graphs are disclosed relating e.g. to pre-charging time and bias voltage and thickness of the layers 14, 15. The netting electrode 24 may be stainless steel or nickel and the wire electrodes 23, tungsten, molybdenum or titanium. In a second embodiment a chargetime determining constant is reduced by using a further flushing light simultaneously with the precharging device 20.
