The building support system is used to protect the building against ground subsidence caused by underground mining. Each mounting plate is held on a support (1). A support has external hollow tubular part (3, 4, 5) accommodates horizontal forces. Vertical forces are accommodated by an inner component (6). The support element depth is reduced under load varying between max. and min. safe loading of the building. The reduction in depth of supports due to subsidence corresponds to the difference between the lowering of the foundations and the allowable deformation.
