The arrangement is esp. used for the emptying of water drainage sumps. The pump unit consists of an electric drive motor (15) and a pump (16), the suction opening of which is near the bottom of the protective housing, and is connected by a short pipe length (22) to the outside of the protective housing. The outlet of the pump is connected by a short length of pipe (19) to an outlet pipe (21) which leads to an outlet above the sump. the protective housing is open at the top and is sufficiently long to extend above the water level when it is mounted in the sump. To empty a container, the pump unit is mounted next to the container.
