In a process for the finishing treatment of liquid steel, cast iron, and metal melts the required additions are made in the suction region of the casting outlet of a casting ladle and through the suction effect the supplied addn. materials are transported directly into the casting stream. The technique allows material e.g. Te, Pb to be added directly to the melt without the danger of vapour dangerous to health and in a period too short for segregation to occur.
