<p>The method consists of conveying the article onto a horizontally laid plastics sheet, then folding up the sheet vertically along both sides of the article (or group of articles) and joining the two parts of the sheet together above the article. Pref. the joint above the article is formed of two or more horizontal seams, esp. weld seams, at a vertical distance one from another; between the lowest and uppermost seam, one or more openings, esp. for carrying the package, may be formed, esp. simultaneously with the seal welding. A reinforcing inlay may also be incorporated into the opening region. The method results in only one arrangement of weld seams, i.e. at the top of the package; this means that the sides are completely free of weld seams and are suitable for the fixing or provision of a legend stating the nature of the contents etc.</p> |
