<p>A tube, esp. for use as a core for coiled material, is designed to require less material for its construction and to be lighter in weight without sacrificing strength. This is achieved by using thinner individual strips of paper (5) which are glued together and coiled and then unwound and formed into the required spirals. The glue between the individual strips forms a vapour permeable layer. The individual strips are formed from corrugated paper or offcuts preferably of the quality 130 g/m2. More specifically four strips are glued together. The glue contains filler material e.g. kaolin in order to increase temperature resistance.</p> |
