<p>IC engine (2) drives a screw compressor (5) via a shaft (4) and a coupling (3). The compressor output leads via a non return valve (7) to an oil separator (8). The oil returns to the compressor after passing through a cooler (38). Compressed air leaves the separator via a filter (11) to a min. pressure outlet valve (12). IC engine exhaust gas energy is used to turn a turbine impeller (16). The exhaust pipes (15a, 15c) (15b, 15d) are connected to pulse convertors (53a) (53b) in such a manner that the cylinder exhaust valve opening times do not overlap. The turbine impeller turns a compressor impeller (20) to draw air from a filter (21) and compress it at pref. a ratio of 1:2 in respect of the exhaust gas volume. Compressed air leaves the turbo charger (17) via an intermediate cooler (23) and non return valve (46) to a suction valve (25) and the main compressor intake. An oil separator pressure dependent starter valve (26) is fitted in the turbo charger output circuit to use the turbo charger output when a min. pressure is present.</p> |
