<p>1485389 Coated particles and coating films prepared from these ALUMINUM CO OF AMERICA 2 July 1974 [19 July 1973] 10429/74 Divided out of 1485388 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] A polished metal coated plastics particulate product is made by brushing metal flakes and plastics particles together and comprises mutually separated metal flakes attached to the surfaces of the plastics particles. The bodies of the plastics particles are optionally pigmented and optionally contain metal particles. The metal may be A1, gold bronze (Cu/Zn), on zinc. The flakes may be "leafing" or "non-leafing", the "leafing" particles being coated with e.g. stearic acid. The flakes may have particle size 7 - 15Ám, or 85% wt. may be 30-50Ám, or they may pass 325 mesh Tyler. The plastics may be thermosetting or thermoplastic, e.g. epoxy, acrylic, cellulose acetate butyrate, or poly (cyclohexylenedimethyleneterephthalate/isophthalate) resin. There may be < 30% wt. metal flakes based on total (metal + plastics). The particles may be melted to yield a continuous film and may be coated on steel by use of electrostatic spray gun.</p> |
