The mechanism is used for taking a card (6) from a container (4) in which a number of cards are stacked, and depositing it into an open bag (10). It comprises a tube (1) telescopically carrying a suction tube (3) in the longitudinal path of which the container (4) is arranged. Means (2) are provided to admit vacuum to and disconnect it from the suction tube. The container and the tubes are preferably arranged in an inclined position and the suction tube end at right angles to its axis, the axis being perpendicular to the surface of the cards in the container. A stop (7) may be provided to limit the upward movement of the suction tube.
