<p>1532572 Spot-type disc brakes GIRLING Ltd 24 Feb 1977 [26 Feb 1976] 07582/76 Heading F2E The brake, which is of the single-actuator sliding-caliper reaction type, has the caliper 10, Fig. 1, slidably mounted on a carrier 12 by a connection which comprises a pin 40 secured to the carrier or, as shown, the caliper 10, and slidably engaging an opening 48 in the other member, and a pair of complementary sliding surfaces 64, 66, Fig. 4, permitting relative vibratory movements between the caliper 10 and the carrier 12 about the pin 40, but limiting pivoting of the caliper about the pin, one, 66, of the sliding surfaces being provided by a key 58 mounted in a keyway 52, 54, so as to be bodily movable therein solely in the direction of sliding of the caliper relative to the carrier (normally the key is held against such movement). By this construction, when the key 58 is removed from the keyway 52, 54, the caliper 10 can be pivotted about the pin to a position, dotted in Fig. 3, in which the caliper 10 lies clear of the pads 20, 22 supported on the carrier. As shown, the other sliding surface 64 is provided on a lug 62 of the caliper 10.</p> |
