The mass transfer in liquid media can be improved by adding to the liquid medium 0.1 to 10% by volume of inert solid particles having a specific gravity which is by 1.1 to 20 times greater than that of the liquid medium and imparting to the liquid medium a movement such that the solid particles having a diameter of from 0.1 to 40 mm are kept in suspension.
