<p>1445507 Setting fasteners SCOVILL MFG CO 9 July 1974 [30 July 1973] 30446/74 Heading A3H [Also in Division B4] A hand tool in the form of pliers 10 for applying snap fastener components to fabric F comprises opposed jaws 12, 14 one of the jaws presenting a pyramidal punch 18 having six faces meeting at a point, opposite faces having, at the point, an included angle of 80‹ to 95‹, the other jaw having means for holding an eyelet component e.g. C, Fig. 3 (or P, Fig. 5 not shown) so that a barrel portion thereof extends towards the punch, and a clinching trough 44 surrounding the punch to clinch over tongues of the barrel which are severed by the punch during closing movement of the jaws. The jaw 14 supports a turntable 22 having a pair of recesses 34, 36 for different types of eyelet component. Mating eyelet components e.g. socket S, Figs. 3 and 4 (or head H, Fig. 5 not shown) for the eyelet components C or (P) are mounted within a support 38 (or 38 and 40, Fig. 5) on the jaw 12.</p> |
