In a forced air flow thermal storage space heater the sensitive element 9 of a protection thermostat is arranged to be sensitive to the temperature of the outside of an air duct 5 and the thermostat is arranged in the circuit of a fan 7 so as to ensure that the latter is switched on when the temperature of the duct exceeds a given value. The protection thermostat is connected in the fan circuit in parallel with the normal room thermostat. The element 9 may thermally contact the duct 4 directly or through a metal bar 11 which extends the full width of the duct 4 or bridges a number of such ducts, or may be located in the interior of insulation 6 in thermal contact with a U-section plate 12. Thermal insulation 3 separates the air duct from the storage core 1 which is heated by electric elements 2. Elements 13 of further safety thermostats connected in parallel with the room thermostat may be located against the heater casing to ensure that the fan is operating when the casing temperature is above a given value.</p> |
