1494423 High voltage measuring SIEMENS AG 19 March 1975 [20 March 1974] 11325/75 Heading G1 A high voltage capacitor 2, Fig. 1, intended to form with a capacitor 11 a voltage divider, is accompanied by a compensating capacitor 13 in sufficiently close proximity to produce from a bridge 13, 18, 19, 20, of which it forms part, a signal Us indicative of any change in the environment (e.g. of temperature or pressure) experienced by the high voltage capacitor 2. As described the high voltage capacitor and the compensating capacitor are both positioned within a gas-filled switch casing 1. The signal Us may be used either merely to indicate that an environment change has occurred, or it may be used actually to modify the signal 12 produced by the potential divider 2, 11, for example as in Fig. 2, (not shown) by controlling the amplification applied thereto. Other control possibilities mentioned include physically moving one electrode of the capacitor 2, changing the pressure of temperature of the gas in the case 1, and changing the temperature of the capacitor 11. The high voltage capacitor 2 comprises a central conductor 3 and a three-part cylindrical conductor formed by coating a plastics cylinder 5 in three regions, 4, 6 and 7, the latter two regions 6 and 7 constituting two guard rings. The outermost surface 8 of the cylinder is also coated and connected to earth. |
