1422205 Die-casting machine SOC DE VENTE DE L'ALUMINIUM PECHINEY 25 July 1973 [26 July 1972] 35409/73 Heading B3F [Also in Divisions A4 and C7] In a process for manufacturing a domestic cooking vessel having a thick base 11 and a frusto-conical, downwardly-tapering collar 13 at the lower end of its lateral wall 12 (Fig. 2) a liquid metal-alloy is introduced into a die 22, 23 (Fig. 4) and forced by means of a punch 21 until the space between the die and punch corresponds to the desired shape of the vessel 1 (Fig. 7). The die comprises a recessed base 23 and lateral copes 22 which can be slid apart to release the completed casting and may be provided with a coating containing graphite and aluminium powder. The punch comprises a lower section 211, producing the inner surface of the vessel surmounted by a frusto-conical part 212 which mates exactly with a frusto-conical portion 222 on the copes. A channel in the copes below the portion 222 forms an outwardly flared upper rim 15 of the vessel. The alloys used are aluminium-silicon, aluminium-magnesium-beryllium or aluminium-silicon containing small quantities of titanium, iron or manganese. |
