1484228 Aqueous polymeric emulsions MARTIN PROCESSING Inc 19 June 1975 [12 July 1974] 26183/75 Headings C 3R and C3P [Also in Division D1] Aqueous emulsions comprise (a) an alkylphenol, (b) a polymer derived from dimethyl terephthalate and a tetrol of the formula wherein each of a, b, c, d, e, f, g and h, which may be the same or different, is an integer and the total of a, b, c and d is from 8 to 850 and the total of e, f, g and h is from 8 to 1000, (c) a reaction product of an organic diisocyanate and a polyalkylene glycol, (d) a fluoro-chemical compound which contains a fluorinated aliphatic radical with at least 3 carbon atoms, (e) a vinyl copolymer and (f) a mixture of a cross-linkable water-dispersible polyester and an amino resin, which mixture can be cross-linked by heat to form a water-insoluble film, each of the compounds (a) to (e) and (f) when cross-linked being insoluble in water. Most preferably, compound (a) has 8 to 12 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical, compound (c) is a toluene diisocyanate/polyethylene glycol reaction product, compound (d) contains fluorinated groups between C 3 F 7 and C 20 F 41 , compound (e) is produced from monomers such as vinyl fluoride, vinylidene fluoride, vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride, alpha methyl styrene, lower alkyl methacrylates, glycidyl acrylate and methacrylate optionally copolymerized with other monomers and compound (f) is a mixture of the polyester and urea-formaldehyde or melamine-formaldehyde. The emulsions are used for treating textile materials to impart soil-repellency and antistatic properties thereto (see Divisions D1-D2).
|
