Telephone wires or telecommunications cables may be arranged in pairs and the pairs may be insulated by being wrapped in a paper or plastics band. One layer of wrapping may be used or the wrapping may be applied in several wrapping operations, forming several layers. Identification of different pairs of wires may be achieved by perforating the band with several small holes. Two or more holes may be used in a variety of geometrical arrangements. The pattern is repeated at intervals along the band.
