Boiler hopper and wet ash remover seal - has expansion compensator for sealing and preventing pressure surges

Hopper of pulverised coal fired boiler is sealed relative to the housing of wet ash removing device below the boiler hopper. The wet ash removing system accommodates upper span of a belt scraper transporter in contact with a floor. This transporter is situated slightly below the water level in the wet ash removing system. The arrangement prevents formation of sudden pressure surges in the ash removing system and the hopper is effectively sealed. The underside of the boiler hopper (2) has a compensator (8) which rests on the housing of the wet ash removing device. The compensator has curved plates (12, 13) between which are fitted flat thin plates (14, 15, 16) which have lateral extensions (17) with slots for guide rods (18). The expansion of the lower curved plate (13) is limited to a lower limiting value. The upper plate (12) expansion is limited to an upper value. The compensator is protected, on the side facing the boiler, by a guide plate (22).
