Removable cover for rear of wiper arm - has clip on plastic cover moulded in U-shape and fitted by ratchet slots

The rear of the windscreen wiper arm has the main spring (21) located inside the U-shape formed by the pressed metal arm (12). The spring is protected by a cover (23) which is clipped into place for easy removal, to replace the spring. The cover is plastic moulded, with a U-shape whose width is wider than the internal width of the wiper arm U-shape. The cover has ratchet slots (31) which clip over internal pegs (30) on the sides of the wiper arm. The far end of the cover has a ratchet nose (28) which locates in a hole in the arm. The system enables the spring to be replaced without damage to the cover.
