The induction unit has a long casing with a narrow neck below it. Air is supplied to it from a mixing box and is discharged from it through openings with directional properties in the base of the neck. A sliding damper (9) on the inside of the base of the neck has openings (10) which overlap the openings in the base. Each damper opening has a downturn flange (11) projecting into the base opening. At one end the damper is connected to a pneumatic positioner (13). The positioner is supplied from the mixing box controls so that the damper is moved according to a determined function of the volume delivered to the unit.
