Railway tunnel wall repair system - uses fibre fleece bearer with plastics coating with both sides screwed into wall at given spacing

Railway tunnel reclamation consists in mounting a bearer (8) at a distance (11) from the wall of the tunnel. The bearer is coated or impregnated with a waterproof, thermosetting polymer which is activated without being hardened at this stage. Once the bearer has been installed the polymer is hardened and an additional plastics (24) is applied to the inside of the bearer and set so as to complete the hard plastics skin (8) round the tunnel wall. Pref. the bearer consists of a nonwoven fibre composite (22) fleece, and the additional plastics applied to the inside of the bearer should be a duromer sealing compound. The tunnel surface should be cut back and trimmed before the bearer is installed, using evenly spaced anchoring screws (9) whose heads (19) can be cut off once the plastics have finally set.
