Pure hydrogen prodn. from impure gas mixt. - in compressed gas bottle contg. a granular metal packing

Process comprises passing the gas mixt. through a vessel filled with an activated granular metal which forms a metal hydride until at least a defined equilibrium press. in the space surrounding the packing is achieved at a defined H2 concn. in the packing and temp., and subsequently blowing off a fraction of the gas prior to removing the pure H2. The vessel is a compressed gas bottle fitted with two pipe connections for gas inlet and outlet, and contains a heat exchanger and filter for the dust contained in the pure H after passage through the metal packing. Method is simple and inexpensive and is suitable for the prodn. of pure H2 for laboratory use.
