1455529 Alpha - (p - tolyloxycarbonyl) - 3- thienylmethyl penicillin BEECHAM GROUP Ltd 27 Feb 1975 8186/75 Heading C2C The invention comprises the title compound and its non-toxic pharmaceutically acceptable salts, and a process for preparing it by reacting 6-aminopenicillanic acid with an acylating derivative (e.g. the acid chloride) of mono-p-tolyl 3-thienylmalonate. The latter is made from the mono-acid chloride of 3-thienylmalonic acid and p-cresol. Therapeutic and veterinary compositions in conventional form comprise the title compounds or its salts, which is active against grampositive and gram-negative bacteria and has a high degree of oral absorption in man. |
