A disposable diaper has a liquid-impermeable backing layer (12) made of a plastic film and extending laterally beyond the side edges of a liner (10) in order to form lateral tabs (14, 16). Both end edges of the backing layer (12) are in each case folded back on themselves around a lateral fold line (20, 22) in order to form strengthened edge strips (24, 26) which, at both end edges of the diaper, exhibit twice the thickness of the backing layer (12). Connected to both ends of one of the strengthened edge strips (24, 26) is in each case an adhesive plaster (28), on which a tear-off protective cover (30) is arranged, which adhesive plasters (28) are arranged in such a way that, when the disposable diaper is placed around a baby, the strengthened edge strips (24, 26) are connected to one another. <IMAGE> |
