The canard aeroplane with the leading wing in from of the fuselage has that wing (1) mounted on a strut (2) extending axially forwards and upwards from the otherwise conventional nose of the aircraft, providing an unobstructed view in all important directions from the cockpit. The leading wing also acts as a control surface. The corresponding vertical surface (3) may be mounted on the wing support strut as an alternative to being embodied in the vertical stabilising surfaces (6, 7) at the after end of the fuselage. The engines are behind the aircraft's CG but are otherwise conventionally arranged in the tail (8) and/or wings (5).
