1352080 Blasting HITACHI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 29 June 1972 [30 June 1971 (2)] 30536/72 Heading B3D A shot-blast apparatus comprises a conveyer means 3, Fig. 1, having a shot blast head 14 connected to one end and a conveyer driving motor 6 installed at the other, a base mount 1 supporting the conveyer means inwardly of and adjacent the conveyer driving motor, abrasive supplying means 8 on the conveyer means adjacent the support by the base mount, and drive means for repeatedly swinging the conveyer means with a predetermined amplitude with respect to the base mount. The conveyer means 3 consists of a cylindrical casing containing a screw-type conveyer 5 which is driven by the motor 6 and transfers abrasive from the supply means 8, which is connected to a fusible duct, to a delivering shoot 7 leading to the shot blast head 14. A cylindrical body 10 is connected to the conveyer means and, at one end, has a motor 12 driving a shaft 11 connected to the head 14 at the other end of the body. The shaft 11 is connected by bevel gears 15, 16, Fig. 3, to a shaft 17 which extends into the casing 19 of the head 14 and mounts an impeller 18, the casing being connected to the shoot 7 and rotatably adjustably held by a clamping ring 21 to the gear-box 13. A distributer 24 is mounted on the shaft 17 and disposed within is control sleeve 25. The conveyer means 3 and body 10 are mounted for vertical swinging movement by a bearing 26, Fig. 1, on a horizontal shaft 27 carried by a turntable 2 swingable about a vertical axis on the base mount 1. The lower end of the turntable has a sleeve 29 mounted in a bearing 31 supported in the base mount 1. A sprocket 34 is held between friction members 35, 36 on a wheel 33 secured to the upper portion 29a of the sleeve 29, the sprocket being connected by a chain 50 to a drive sprocket 52 of a motor 49. The latter is carried by a bracket 55 on a support 42 which is rotatably mounted on a lower portion 29b of the sleeve 29 and has an arm 42 connected to the crank 47 of a motor 46. When motor 46 is rotated, the crank swings the arm 42 and motor 49 to cause the chain drive to swing the turntable to-and-fro about a vertical axis. The motor 49 is normally locked but when driven varies the positions of the swinging movement of the turntable and hence the conveyer means and shot-blast head. A similar arrangement is provided for effecting the vertical swing- ing movement and adjustment thereof about the horizontal shaft 27. The motors 46, 49 may be fluid pressure type or geared type. In other embodiments, the swinging movements are effected by fluid pressure cylinder means, the impeller 18 is mounted directly on the shaft 11, and the body 10 is omitted and the shot-blast head 14 is mounted directly on the conveyer means. |
