1473369 Polyalkylene terephthalate compositions CELANESE CORP 9 Aug 1974 [10 Aug 1973] 35184/74 Heading C3R A polyalkylene terephthalate moulding resin composition comprises an intimate blend of polypropylene terephthalate or polybutylene terephthalate each having an intrinsic viscosity of from 0À75-1À5 decilitres per gram as measured with an 8% solution in orthochlorophenol at 25‹ C., at least 2% wt. of the said terephthalate being present as a powder sufficiently small to pass through a 30 mesh screen of the Tyler Standard Sieve series; at least one flame retardant; asbestos and optionally a reinforcing filler and/or a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene bis fatty acid amide. Suitable flame retardants are mixtures of an aromatic halogen (particularly bromine) containing compound and a compound, particularly the oxide, of arsenic, antimony, bismuth or phosphorus. Suitable fillers are glass fibres, talc, acicular calcium metasilicate, cellulosic fibres, cotton fabric, paper, synthetic fibres and/or metallic powders. Preferred fatty acid amides are ethylene bis-stearamide, hexene bis-lauramide and ethylene bis-3-(3,5-ditertiarybutyl, 4-hydroxy phenol) propanamide. In the examples compositions are prepared from polybutylene or polypropylene terephthalate chips and powder, asbestos, glass fibre, antimony trioxide and either decabromodiphenylether, pentabromotoluene or tetrabromophthalic anhydride.
|
