Colour TV CRT without getter spluttering - has getter with zirconium or its alloy fitted in neck and selector at distance from screen

The CRT for a colour television avoids the manufacturing problems caused by the sputtering of the getter. The tube can maintain a high vacuum over a long period, which means improved characteristics and a longer lifespan. The tube consists of a bulb, a neck a funnel and a disc with a front plate which has a fluorescent screen on the inner surface. The electron gun is mounted in the neck. The bulb (14) is fitted with a non-spraying massive getter (23). The massive getter is made from plastic which may contain zirconium, a porous alloy of Zr-Al or a porous alloy of Zr-C. The massive getter is fitted in the neck or funnel. The colour selector electrode (18) is at a fixed distance from the screen (16).
