The protective band is for covering the interval between two articles of clothing, e.g. the usual annular gap existing at the top of a "Wellington" boot (24) between the boot leg wall and the leg. It is designed in this case to prevent foreign matter entering the boot, and constitutes a flexible or semi-flexible band (10) which locates sleeve fashion on the wearer's knee, with its upper edge (12) fixing tightly to trousers (25) and its lower edge (14) fixing over the top boot rim. The element or band embodies upper (12) and lower (14) edgings strips with appropriate fasteners, and similar lateral edge strips (18, 19) whereby it is closed into a sleeve. Pref. the upper fastening is an elastic strip, the lower fastening is via e.g. press studs (15) or drawers cord, and lateral fasteners are self adhering strips (19). The band can also be used between jacket sleeves and gloves.
