The ring cutter wood chipping machine is for chopping slices and comprises a casing (2), with a central material input channel. It encloses an outer ring cutter (3) and a fan wheel with its rotating blades forming a cylindrical or conical periphery cutters. The fan wheel (4) incorporates a hollow guide device (5), widening in a truncated cone shape in the axial direction. The narrower end (5a) grips the central input (1), and the other end (5b) adjoins the periphery (4b) of the fan blades (4a). These are extended as far as the guide device in the form of guide bars (4c), to form an open axial space (6) with their inside contour (4d). The slices to be cut can be quietly and smoothly fed to the cutters on the ring, with their grains running parallel, since the fan wheel and guide device combine to form a rotating unit.
