The electronic telemetry system is for monitoring the water level and flow rates in rivers and canals. It consists of a number of individual float-type or similar detectors whose output signals are sequentially selected in a measuring receiver switching unit. The incoming data is passed through an interface to a minicomputer for processing and conversion to volumetric units. A large number of measuring stations can be handled in this way and the information stored ready for interrogation by telephone-type access terminals. The transmitted information can be displayed in digital or analogue form at the receiving terminal, thus obviating the need to interpret curves on chart recorders.
|
