Cooking stove grill pivoted screen is held in the operating or stowed position by a counterweight (19). The counterweight is at one end of a curved lever (20) to which the grill screen (2) is attached to the other end, beyond the pivot (14). Turning the knob (17) to switch on the grill moves a second lever (22), which displaces the grill screen lever (20), taking the counterweight over the pivot point (14) and bringing the grill screen (2) to the operating position.
