1483547 Cutting apparatus G D SpA 28 Nov 1974 [20 Dec 1973] 51565/74 Heading B4B Apparatus for producing from a strip N of material, e.g. cardboard, individual shoulder piece blanks 4 for cigarette packets, the apparatus comprising intermittently-actuated feed rollers 40, 41 for feeding the strip between a pair of mating rollers 38, 39 adapted to produce two rows of indentations 7 and slits 8, cutting means comprising a stationary knife 43 and a movable knife 44 adapted to sever individual blanks from the strip in synchronism with the intermittent feed means, and means 44<SP>1</SP>, 47 for retaining a severed blank in engagement with the movable knife whereby a severed blank is moved with the movable knife away from the strip. The cutting and scoring rollers 38, 39 and feed rollers 40, 41 are rotated intermittently by a Geneva-stop mechanism 24, 25 via gears 29, 30, 31, 33, 35, the pressure contact between the rollers 38, 39 is varied by adjusting eccentrically-mounted bearing housings 51. The movable cutter 44 is mounted on a shaft 45 which is raised and lowered to effect a cutting operation by means of a rotatable cam 16, 16<SP>1</SP> engaging a pair of spaced rollers 46 on the shaft 45. The cam is rotated by a shaft 14 which is connected, via gears 19, with a flywheel shaft 20 drivingly coupled with the Geneva mechanism by gears 21, 22. The cut blank is held on the movable cutter 44 by suction until the latter has reached its upper position whereat the blank is removed by a suction transfer device 48. |
